About Mission Bay Puppy Rescue
30 years ago, while searching for a rescue dog of our own, we were unexpectedly asked to foster. Our journey began with a family of 10 puppies, and while they played on our front lawn, passersby couldn't resist their charm. Before we knew it, we were finding loving homes for them right out of our front yard.
We love having puppies and mamas around our home at all times! Dogs are truly humans best friend and we love rescuing and connecting families with their new best friend. What makes this mission warm our heats is seeing the smile on our adoption families faces as they leave our facility with their new rescue pup or mama. We love knowing that one less puppy is on the street and instead cuddled up with their perfect owner.
After years of working with various rescue organizations and helping to place hundreds of puppies, we realized this was our calling. That's when we made the decision to become an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit. In December 2022, Mission Bay Puppy Rescue was born!
What We Do
At Mission Bay Puppy Rescue, we are dedicated to saving orphaned puppies, moms, and their litters. We partner with multiple dedicated rescue teams in Bakersfield, as well as the San Diego Humane Society, and animal shelters across California to provide life-saving care and support.
Every puppy in our care receives age-appropriate vaccinations, is microchipped, spayed/neutered, and given any necessary medical treatment. The pups are rescued, rehabilitated and loved by our family and foster volunteers. When we rescue litters they will stay with their littermates until at least 8 weeks old, and with their mama as long as possible. When we rescue orphaned puppies they are introduced to the pack and make friends with the other pups quickly, after no time they are all playing and jumping around the yard like best friends. Eventually when they are rehabilitated and ready they too are adopted to loving homes!
Our mama dogs receive the same level of compassion, with a safe and peaceful place to care for their puppies. Once ready, the mamas are vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and treated to a special grooming as we help them find a loving forever home.
Join us in our mission to save as many puppies and mamas from high-kill shelters and unsafe conditions, by adopting, fostering or donating. Your partnership gives them the second chance they deserve!
